Today’s theme is “movement.” Short of trying my hand at night trails, I haven’t had much experience taking photographs of moving objects. It was a little more difficult than I imagined.
I wanted to head out today and explore my city, but I am not feeling well, and since I start a new job tomorrow, I decided to stick close to home. We live on a fairly busy residential road, so I took my camera and tripod outside, set it up on my front lawn and tried to get photos of cars driving down the street.

In the below photos, I wanted to create the feeling of movement by blurring the cars as they drove past. I played around with different shutter speeds, even tried my hand at using the “bulb” function on my camera. I like how in some of the photos the cars seem to be ghostly and levitating over the road.
It is slightly windy outside today so I tried to capture the movement of the moss in the oak trees in my front yard. I wasn’t very impressed with the outcome, but I definitely feel as if it communicates the theme of the challenge.
Well, that’s it for today. I am going to go pop some sinus medicine and watch Hulu all day so I can be ready for my first day at my new job tomorrow.
